I’m a California-born, Midwest-based film photographer who works between the two places I call home: Los Angeles and Chicago. Much like the people I photograph — who, as a group, can only be described as an ever-evolving chameleon — I, too, play many roles: mother, wife, sister, daughter, dinner party enthusiast, dog mama, forever film student and people person, to name a handful. 

While I take tremendous pride in wearing each of these caps, what truly gives me purpose is the opportunity to live life through a myriad of perspectives. To be able to tell my story and possibly understand yours, through not just the lens of, say, a mother or a friend, but instead a kaleidoscope of many vantage points, both fascinates and fuels me. 

It was this paradigm of sorts — in combination with my passion for film, first catalyzed when I picked up my mom’s old Canon AE-1 in my early 20s and feverishly cultivated since — that ultimately compelled me to create Close Up by Christina. A passion-turned-profession where all people, all roles, all perspectives and all stories are represented and celebrated through the art of film.
